MBC (CED) Program at Lakeland College

The content of the MBA (CED) is unique. It blends business and social science disciplines with community economic development practice. Based on the principles of process and adult learning, the program develops skills in facilitation and collaboration which are skills in very high demand in all sectors. The program is specifically designed for learners who require advanced business and interpersonal skills, including:

  • in-career CED specialists
  • national and international non-government organizations
  • professionals and practitioners in Aboriginal government
  • community liaisons in private corporations
  • economic development agencies
  • students entering the field

  • health care professionals

The MBA (CED) at Lakeland College is offered in Western Canada--at sites including Sherwood Park, Lloydminster and Southern Alberta--through an agreement between Lakeland College and Cape Breton University, students can earn a fully accredited MBA in community economic development from Cape Breton University. Expert professors teach weekend classes to allow students to continue working while pursing an MBA (one course is delivered over two weekends of classes followed by approximately 4 weeks without classes to enable students to complete the final coursework).
