Are you looking to hire skilled, career-focused youth?
Are you willing to mentor these employees and invest in their future?

Alberta Community & Co-operative Association has receuved a Career Focus internship grant from Service Canada. Interns hired under this program must be post-secondary graduates between 15 and 30 years of age. We are currently seeking Expressions of Interest from co-operative and credit unions (and other community-based enterprises) to become Hosts with our Co-operative Career Internship Program.

What you get:

  • A salary supplemented youth intern for 12 weeks
  • A skilled and enthusiastic person to complete special projects that you might have put on hold
  • The opportunity to assist with the career development and co-op knowledge of a young person through mentoring and guidance

What ACCA provides:

  • $8.40 per hour salary subsidy through Service Canada grant
  • Pre-screening of youth applicants
  • Two-day orientation and co-op and career development training workshop for interns
  • Ongoing administrative and trouble-shooting support

What hosts provide:

  • The prevailing wage for the occupation (+ benefits) salary subsidy
  • In-kind HR support
  • Mentorship and support to youth interns
  • The consideration of the intern to be hired after the internship is completed
  • Expose youth to the operations, management and principles of business
  • Help the interns gain an understanding of the role in which community-based organizations play in community economic development
