Celebrating Success: Highlights from the ACCA Co-op Conference 2023

The ACCA Co-operative Conference 2023 emerged as a resounding success, breaking previous event records and providing a dynamic platform for connection, learning, and recognition within the co-operative sector. The event, themed 'It Starts with Us,' underscored the pivotal roles each participant plays in nurturing and advancing co-operatives in Alberta. Notably, 28 Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) attended the evening reception, marking a historic moment that included Premier Danielle Smith for the first time.

Hon. Dale Nally's insightful participation in the conference, especially during the fireside chat, added depth and valuable perspectives on the current state and future potential of co-operatives in the region. His contribution further enhanced the conference experience, giving attendees a unique opportunity to gain insights from a prominent figure in Alberta's political landscape.

Celebrating the growing importance and influence of co-operatives in Alberta

The event served as a powerful showcase of the growing importance and influence of co-operatives in Alberta. From the engaging ACCA Member Share featuring the Multicultural Health Brokers Co-operative to the diverse topics and speakers, the conference exemplified the vibrancy and impact of co-operative initiatives.

Recognzing our event sponsors

Organizing an event of this magnitude required substantial support, and the ACCA extends sincere thanks to sponsoring organizations such as Calgary Co-op, Federation of Alberta Gas Co-ops, Alberta Central, and others. Their commitment to the conference exemplifies the collaborative spirit that defines the co-operative movement in the region.

Extended networking breaks provided valuable opportunities for attendees to connect with new and familiar faces, fostering personal and professional relationships. The captivating performance of Zach Willier, an 18-year-old Indigenous singer, songwriter, and fiddler from the Sucker Creek First Nation in Northern Alberta, further enriched the event.

Corinne Remple, Executive Director of ACCA, expressed her gratitude, stating, "The ACCA Co-operative Conference 2023 has set a new standard for our annual gathering. The unprecedented attendance, diverse representation, and engaging discussions reinforce the vitality of the co-operative sector. I want to extend my appreciation to everyone involved, from attendees to sponsors, and a special thank you to Hon. Dale Nally for sharing his valuable insights during the conference."

As the conference concludes, the ACCA looks forward to building on the momentum generated and championing the growth and impact of co-operatives in Alberta. To all who participated, thank you for your commitment, and here's to the shared success and future collaborations within the co-operative community.
