Investing in Impact: Sector Support Unlocks 2025 Co-operative Initiatives

In 2025, we introduced the impactful Legacy Builder Program to formally acknowledge our Sustaining Members. These members, who generously go beyond their core dues, play a crucial role in ensuring the long-term success of Alberta's co-operatives.

This program isn't just about recognition. It's about building a stronger foundation. Legacy Builders help ACCA expand programs, launch new initiatives, and invest in the long-term capacity Alberta's co-operative sector needs to thrive.

The Government of Alberta's NRED grant presented a challenge — and an opportunity: to raise matching funds to unlock critical public investment. Our sector stepped up. Through a combination of core contributions and strategic sponsorship, we met the match, and those funds are already at work across the province.

Legacy Builder Support Is Driving Three Core Initiatives in 2025:

Each year, ACCA identifies priority initiatives to be funded through the Legacy Builder Program. In 2025, these three initiatives are at the heart of our work:

1. Alberta Co-op Connection Tour

A series of five regional in-person events to raise the profile of the co-operative model, foster collaboration, and engage new audiences. Each event will connect co-ops, community leaders, and curious allies in their region, and the tour will culminate in a Members' Reception at the Alberta Co-operative Conference this fall.

2. Building Tomorrow Through the Co-operative Business Model

A multi-campus, live-streamed event and digital campaign to engage students, entrepreneurs, and emerging leaders (ages 18–35). This initiative introduces co-ops as a powerful model for purpose-driven work, business ownership, and systems change.

3. Alberta Co-operative Conference 2025: Next is Now

Our flagship annual gathering will return this November, bringing together leaders, innovators, and champions across Alberta's co-op sector.

• Registration is now open!

Help shape the program by sharing your session ideas or speaker suggestions to ensure this year’s conference reflects the voices and priorities of Alberta’s co-op community.
